2010 Charles & Charles Rosé
Second time I have taken advantage of a Rosé special and each time it seems to bring the rain right back to the bay. I’ll drink it anyways, always do. But Rosé really is meant to be enjoyed in the sun, with friends and luckily enough of the four I picked up at Vintage Berkeley we decided to try this 2010 Charles & Charles (Syrah based). The opening was an afterthought as my neighbor and I discussed the Chablis we planned to open later with the grilled salmon for dinner. But right away this one was the winner of the night. A very refreshing cold watermelon flavor with some dried berry fruit mixed in. My favorite part was the effervescence on the finish. Couple it all with the dry refreshingness of it all and it makes me yearn for those rare warm nights in the Bay Area. The one’s where we all leave our hoodies at home and dawn shorts to sit out on the front stoop and talk to our neighbors. Bring it!
